Install Wrye Bash (or OBMM, but gack!) Once these are done, the following package install order should be followed in most cases: 1. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. Install the Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches if you have any of the official DLCs installed. Paste the zip file in your oblivion/obmm/mods and then open the program and click create, then double click the mofo mod zip archive file and click create omod, then double click it on the other side and if it's blue its in effect. With the unofficial patches you need to load them in a specific order - generally AFTER the stock game files. Their readmes will have more info. You can use OBMM to change the launch order by moving the files in the list up or down.

Bug[edit]

(BUG:) Define 'the latest official patch' (for historical accuracy and timeliness). - anonymouse (squeek squeek!)

The article links to the Patch page so I think it's clear enough. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 05:29, 17 February 2008 (EST)

'Tes4Mod'?[edit]

What does the [Tes4Mod:] part of the article title (article name) indicate? Is it a wiki category (like [Oblivion:] or [Tamriel:])? -- Laisren 06:24, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Tes4Mod = 'The Elder Scrolls 4 Modding'. It's not the most elegant of words, but yes it's a namespace like Oblivion: and Tamriel. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 08:46, 25 February 2008 (EST)
More information on namespaces is at UESPWiki:Namespaces and Help:Namespaces. Although namespaces also tend to make up some of the top level entries on our category tree, the two organizational systems are different. --NepheleTalk 13:58, 25 February 2008 (EST)

Both?[edit]

If I have SI, is it best to install both the patch for vanilla and SI or just the one for SI? OneGyT 09:51, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

Both. The UOP fixes only issues with vanilla Oblivion and the USIP fixes only issues with SI. Don't forget the UOMP too if you run any of the official mods. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 09:57, 6 May 2008 (EDT)
Wow, that was fast! Thanks for the help. OneGyT 09:59, 6 May 2008 (EDT)

Order of installation of all the unofficial patches[edit]

I have managed to destroy my Oblivion game. I am starting over, everything is unstalled. Does someone know of an order of installation that works best? I have tried Oblivion, Official Patch, Unofficial patch, then Shivering Isles, unofficial SI patch, then all the KOTN mods, then the Unofficial Patch for those. The game will not start. Any ideas would be appreciated.

They can be installed in any order, but an important thing to remember is to make sure that there are no Unofficial Patch ESP's active if what they patch isn't there; they can be present just not checked in the launcher Data Files. So make sure that all of the active UOMP ESP's match the official 'DLC' mods that are there. ie If you have GoTY and the KoTN CD you will not have Battlehorn Castle unless you bought it or got the free download separately, so deactivate the UOMP 'DLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.esp'. Otherwise this is a missing master situation and Oblivion will crash on launch or load. Kivan 10:21, 10 July 2008 (EDT)
Hi! Upon reading this I thought that I finally had the answer! But I just tried it out, and no, it doesn't apply, because I don't have the patch for the DLC that I also don't have. Oh, and I'm not the person that started this topic by the way, just somebody with the same problem. Does anyone have any other ideas that we can try? Thanks! Leo Star Dragon 1 01:09, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
Can you elaborate on exactly what problem you're having? My general approach has always been to install all the game content, including DLC, then official patches, then unofficial patches, then mods. It's worked flawlessly outside of the occasional mod conflict. Robin Hoodtalk 03:35, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Avast and Shivering Isles Mod[edit]

This is just FYI. Avast was incorrectly flagging the Unofficial Shivering Isles mod as infected. I notified their support team and now it no longer does that :) Thanks for these amazing mods everyone! Moglee 15:28, 5 July 2008 (EDT)

So now I know who to thank that they fixed their definitions. Thanks! :^) Kaspersky was doing this too. All of the Unofficial Patches use Inno Setup, a free installer package. Some lowlife probably used Inno Setup to build a fake installer that pretended to install something good but installed a trojan instead, and the AV companies put the Inno code in their definitions rather than the trojan payload. I've had a bunch of phishing spams that say I need to 'upgrade my security certificate' at some bank (and of course it's for a bank that isn't even in this country) so I bet it was something like this. Skeletons in city temples[edit]

A bug question Obliv v1.2.0416 (and) Unofficial Oblivion Patch V3.0.1

Greetings,

Here is the bug info

Conda install pyqt=4.11 would install the latest (or last) release of version 4.11. Oblivion

Brief description (for quick reference)
City temples with skeleton marks inside

Details..

About 10 days ago I installed the unofficial oblivion patch.
Since then I have found what I assume is a bug. When inside city temples
I see skeleton symbols floating around the top of each arch.
These bad boys have made a mockery of temples. The appearance of
the symbols or marks is so organized one might think they were part
of a storyline for some uncompleted quest. I do have the
smaller exclamations mod and the marks do appear small.
Just out of place. Apparently skeletons have a sense of humor :)

odds n ends[edit]

Greetings all,
Been playing a lot since the skeleton issue came up.
The game seems perfectly functional although I do have a few concerns.
The version number shows in red. Does that color indicate a conflict?
When exiting the game, the computer shows a window saying
'Oblivion is being shut down..send report? etc'
Oblivion version 1.2.0416
UOP patch version 3.0.1

notice uop[edit]

With regard to the Skeleton Symbols in City Temples
Did some research
Going into Data files and unchecking UOP before loading saved game
does get rid of the skeleton symbols at city temples, but of coarse
it presumably messes up the game in other ways when using a save that was
created while UOP was in effect.

Personally, I'm going back to using the UOP (at least for my main character).
It seems to cause fairly frequent crashes to the desktop as well as
the symbols. But fortunately, I have not found any other problems with it
despite having played many hours under it's effect.

Fix For A Small Problem With The USIP[edit]

Here's a way to fix the small issue where the map marker for The Gardens of Flesh and Bone is removed for some reason when using the USIP(with thanks to Arthmoor on the Bethesda forums): 1. Use the CS. Load the USIP plugin, make your way over to the SEFringe worldspace, then move the display there until you get to the Gardens and can find the map marker. Once there, you need to edit the map marker and change a checkbox that is marked 'Set enable state to opposite of parent' and then save the file.

  • OR* (easier by far)

2. Use TES4Edit. Load the USIP file into tes4edit, search for 00013171. You should get a display on the right pane with the map marker. If you ctrl-click on where it says XPGardensMapMarker [REFR:00013171] on the RIGHT side, you should be sitting on the item on the left pane. At that point you should be able to right-click on it from the left pane and tell it to remove the marker. That will undo the edit made and restore it's original function. Exit the program, and save when prompted.

NOTE: It's possible that doing the above could unfix some other small, though I haven't noticed any problems as of yet.

Mysterium Xarxes[edit]

Just installed the UOP, I'm in the Dagon Shrine, about to take the Xarxes but it keeps coming up as a stolen item in my journal. I am trying to keep that part of the journal at zero. What the hell is going on here? Please help! I am no thief! *looks side to side*

Getting the USIP?[edit]

I can't seem to obtain a copy of the USIP (apart from a 7Z manual install version on Filefront, which is what the link here is to) without logging in. The Filefront versions of the other two are a zip and an exe, both self-installing, but not the USIP. Can anyone provide a convenient link, or should I just create an account on the TES Nexus? I'd prefer not to, but I could. --92.11.161.216 16:03, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Creating an account on TESNexus is probably the easiest solution: it takes about two seconds and will enable you to download *any* mod available. --SerCenKingTalk 16:14, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

UOMP question[edit]

Does this patch require all of the official plugins listed on the PES page to be installed to work properly, or is it able to successfully determine whichever ones are/aren't installed? (I'm pretty sure I only have KotN, unless the GotY DVD came with more plugins than that) D'kor 19:37, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

No, the installer for the UOMP offers the option of which plugins to install the patch for, so you'll be fine. 184.56.10.239 00:32, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Kalthar Key[edit]

I run into bug where Kalthar does not have a key on him, hence it break the MG quest and ruin your game as you have no way out of the fort (only console unlock command). This problem appeared after update of UOP. Can someone clarify if it's something to do with lvl lists or Kalthar have a clone with the key? In CS he also does not have a key on him. Oxyk 20:36, 4 March 2010 (UTC)

Indeed, the UOP removes the key from Kalthar's inventory but includes it as a 'Death Item' - this means the key should appear on his body once he is dead. If that doesn't happen, as you said, you can simply use 'Unlock'. --SerCenKingTalk 09:59, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

360 Version?[edit]

Does anyone know if there are any plans to release the Unofficial Oblivion Patch for the 360? Or if there is any way at all to get it onto the 360? Thank you, 74.215.20.104 18:25, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Mods are only available for PC unfortunately. --SerCenKingTalk 19:32, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

On the UOP hotfix..[edit]

Should it be mentioned that the hotfix corrects a very serious bug for anyone that hasn't completed the main quest? (The one where completing 'Attack on Fort Sutch' destroys the 'Allies for Bruma' quest.) 184.56.10.239 00:31, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

It's already mentioned on the quest page; given the style of this page, I don't think it warrants a mention. Robin HoodTalk 02:57, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I installed Unofficial Mods Patch and my game can't run.[edit]

Same as above. I just installed it, and I try to run Oblivion - the black window with Oblivion appears and disappears in piece of second. I don't think I done something wrong - I just installed it. Everything was amazingly fine before that.

I have some mods for Oblivion, but I don't think they were corrupting the game. They worked well before I installed this patch. I have:

  • Original Oblivion
  • 1.2 patch
  • Polish localization patch
  • Every small plugin (like Battlehorn Castle or Mehrunes' Razor)
  • Shivering Isles
  • Max Tael's natural environment (of course I didn't launch every of them, I'm not an idiot)

I'll try to reinstall whole game with addons (AGAIN AND AGAIN, THIS IS ANNOYING! I DONE THAT THREE F**** TIMES!) and play without the Unnoficial Mods Patch until someone will make solution for me.

Questions[edit]

Hey guys, I've never posted anything here before, I'm not even sure that I'm allowed to ask my questions here, but I haven't found any answers to them yet and I'm pretty desperate, so here it goes (Both incidents happenned after I had already installed all the official and unofficail patches, latest versions, so please don't ask me again if I have the latest version, as if I'm some kind of idiot :S )

1- Nearly every time I was entering Crucible, Ushnar gro-Shadborgob was spawning in the air, falling down and getting injured severely but not dying (Thank God) Last time this happenned however, he fell 'through' the ground, somewhere near Cutter's, with his dog going at the point where Ushnar gro-Shadborgob fell through and staying there 24/7. I decided to use the console and create a full actor copy of Ushnar gro-Shadborgob, cos I didn't wanna lose a caracter from my game like that. Well the 'copy', not only suffers from the 'I HAVE NO GREETING' thing, but also doesn't do anything at all! He just sits there 24/7 idle!!! Anyone knows how I can make him behave like the 'actual' Ushnar gro-Shadborgob?

2- Although initially fixed, the Priests of Order now have again ridiculous amounts of hearts (44, 45, 88, etc) -.- I uninstalled and reinstalled the unofficial SI patch, but I just encountered a PoO and he again has many hearts. I've not found anyone else over the Internet experiencing this.. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance guys. Any answers will be much appreciated :) — Unsigned comment by 79.107.12.247 (talk) on 18 August 2010

I wouldn't normally reply to say 'Don't know', but I thought I should state that you're definitely allowed to ask questions.
I had something similar happen with Ushnar and his dog and was never really able to solve it. Rather than use the actor copy, I used prid 00015870 then moveto player, plus resurrect and enable a couple of times to bring him back to life. He was fine, but his dog stopped following him around.
The other one.. I really dunno what to do about that one. Never heard of it before. rpeh •T•C•E• 19:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
I'll give it a try. Thanks for the info! Much appreciated :)
*EDIT* OK I tried it and Ushnar gro-Shadborgob is back to normal again. His dog is indeed not following him :( I even tried killing the dog, but neither the new dog follows his owner :S

Random Question[edit]

Why is it that people on the PS3 can't get this? The PS3 has a web browser (at least I think it does), so what's the problem?--Ghurhak gro-Demrilor TAOYes? 16:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

people on the PS3 cant get this because the way the PS3 works is different to a PC. a patch that is made for the PC wont be the same for a console (although they are actually quite similar, just not similar enough). - anon — Unsigned comment by 92.29.198.111 (talk) at 13:20 on 27 October 2010
The plugin would probably work, but it's a violation of the licensing agreements to install 3rd party mods, much like it is on the XBox. Arthmoor 18:26, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Very strange. Any clue as to why they did that?--Ghurhak gro-Demrilor TAOYes? 19:06, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
No, but it's come up fairly often on the official forums, and PS3 mod threads always get locked by the moderators stating it's a EULA violation. I suspect Sony isn't the reason for it in this case, especially if the PS3 does allow you to download content to it yourself. Arthmoor 19:17, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Not sure about that.. Not to eager to try right now either. Still maybe I'll try with DA:O. Bioware seems to actually be happy that people like their game enough to fix things about it. Also has anyone ever been able to ask what part it violates before they lock the thread?--Ghurhak gro-Demrilor TAOYes? 23:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
No, the moderators never give an explanation of which part of the EULA it violates. They may not know. They generally go by what they've been told by Bethesda's administrators. The only one on the forum in a position to give better information is GStaff. Arthmoor 23:39, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Has anyone contacted him/her/them about it?--Ghurhak gro-Demrilor TAOYes? 23:52, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
No idea. I never pursued it since I play on PC. Arthmoor 01:13, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Patching a Translated Version[edit]

I have a Spanish version of the game and I wonder if it's possible to apply the UOP to it. If so, how would the patch handle the Text Fixes? --Wizy(Talk/Contribs) 01:34, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

After some research I found the answer in TESnexus
'Q: Can I use the Unofficial Oblivion Patch with the German version of Oblivion or other languages?
A: It should work fine but we can't test it, also some things (ie some dialog subtitles and books) will appear in English instead of your game's language.' --Wizy(Talk/Contribs) 02:26, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Unofficial official mods patch bug[edit]

So, I'm trying to reinstall oblivion. I had oblivion completely wiped off my hard drive, and started completely fresh. This is the install order that I used:

First - Oblivion base. The standard game, no expansions Second - Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles (using my game of the year disc) Third - All the downloadable content - (Horse armor, Battlethorn Castle, Vile Lair, etc.) Fourth - Unofficial Oblivion patch v3.20 (file name is 'Unofficial_Oblivion_Patch_v3_2_0_Installer_Version-5296') Fifth - Unofficial_Official_Mods_Patch_v15_Installer_Version-9969 - This is the one that I run in to problems with. After the application is done installing what it needs to it opens up the 'TES4 LOD Generator 1.2.44 Beta (2008-03-08)' window (Like it always did in the past). However, after 34 sec it hits the KotN patch process and bugs out. Here's a quote of the error:

'[00:34] Loader: Fatal: <Exception: 'Knights - Unofficial Patch.esp' requires master 'Knights.esp' to be loaded before it.> [00:34] Loader: finished'

Note: I found the solution to this problem as I wrote this post. I'm going to post what the problem was and how I fixed it for others that face the same problem that I did.

It says it requires knights.esp to be loaded before it. I misinterpreted this as it needed to be INSTALLED before it. What it's actually saying is that it needs you to actually RUN THE GAME with knights.esp checked off in your data files in order for the patch process to proceed. Seems silly in hindsight, but hopefully this will save someone a headache down the road.

Load Order for DLC's and unofficial patches?[edit]

I'm a noob to mods and stuff, so I'm wondering which order should I load the DLC's and unofficial patches in (using OBMM)? Should I load the unofficial patches and THEN the corresponding DLC's one by one, or should I load all the unofficial patches at once and THEN all the DLC's, or based on completion of quests or what? 205.133.160.128 16:19, 25 September 2011 (UTC)

Missing: Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplemental[edit]

How To Install Unofficial Oblivion Patch With Obms Login

I just got Oblivion GotY Deluxe on PC today & I want to install all the patches, but it appears the Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplemental is not available on TESNexus anymore & I cannot find it anywhere else.

Is there a reason to its removal? --Arpaleggia 23:17, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

You see, all the UOP (including USIP, UOMP) have had a major upgrade these days after a long time mute (since 2009). according to the update description of the UOP:
'If you have version 3.2.0 of the UOP, the 3.4.0 UOP Beta, or any of Arthmoor's Supplementals (latest 3.3.7) you need only download the 3.4.0 update. It replaces the UOP Supplementals as it contains all of their fixes (a few were moved to a separate ESP.)'
It sounds that all these patches have been merged into the UOP and other separated packages, so don't worry anymore. ;) --Aflyhorse 05:31, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Is there a place to suggest new bugfixes?[edit]

because the 'Origin of the Gray Prince' and 'Whodunit?' quest rewards are, to put it mildly, weird. So, to a lesser extent, is the reward conferred by Nocturnal's Skeleton Key.

Since they're all implemented as a permanent 'Fortify Skill' effect, they affect the base rate at which you can train skills - and, if the skills in question are major skills, hinder your ability to level up, thus PERMANENTLY reducing your maximum possible level in the game!

Is there a way to fix around this?

either making the skill boosts contribute toward levelling up, or implementing them in such a way that it doesn't affect your ability to progress, or your rate of progression?

For instance, implementing the effects as a once-per-day Greater Power that lasts 24 game hours?

I doubt that there will be any future updates, but if there will be, the comments section of the UOP on Oblivion Nexus is probably your best bet. Robin Hoodtalk 06:24, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

USIP Problem[edit]

Similar to my comment above, the comments section of the USIP on Oblivion Nexus is probably your best bet. Robin Hoodtalk 06:25, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

Readme installation incorrect?[edit]

So I blew off the dust on my Oblivion CD's and installed all the bells and whistles to enjoy all its content goodiness, and downloaded all the UOP's on this page to avoid any future hair-ripping. Lo and behold, all the Readme files for the patches say to extract/install into the /Oblivion folder, but that does nothing and doesn't display on the Data Files in the launcher. I read elsewhere online to extract into the /Oblivion/Data folder instead. Think there should be some kind of notice on this page about the install path being wrong? 162.192.180.124 15:56, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

If it can be confirmed, then yes, though it might be better to contact the makers directly and get the readme updated/fixed, they are still active with the Skyrim unofficial patches. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:08, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

Starting a new character after patches.[edit]

Unofficial Add-on Patch(es) and GOTY Deluxe (Steam)[edit]

The GOTY Deluxe edition appears to be only available on Steam right now, so starting from that version (so the official patch, Shivering Isles, and all the small official add-on downloads) I installed the Unofficial main patch (including the vampire aging and citadel door fixes they separated out), the Unofficial Shivering Isles patch, and the Unofficial patches for all the little add-ons. (These are whatever versions were current on Nexus as of 30 April 2019)

When I included all these, the game refused to launch; it dies midway through displaying the Bethesda logo.

Slow process of elimination led me to find out:

- The Frostcrag Spire unofficial patch will cause the game to exit abnormally all the time

- The Knights of the Nine unofficial patch is what was making the game die on start

I've disabled both of those (not the add-ons, the patches to them); I'll just cope with any bugs in those for now :P but I figured anyone else in the same situation might want this info. 66.31.36.242 03:10, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

There's only one unofficial patch by quarnandkivan for the Oblivion DLC. I see others with unofficial in their name but none are associated with these people, and this is the one documented here, as you can see by the lack of links in the download section. Overview

This guide will help you install Oblivion, the official expansions and DLCs, the official and unofficial patches.

Windows Vista or Windows 7

If your operating system is Windows Vista or Windows 7, be sure to install Oblivion to someplace other than the default location under 'C:Program Files' such as C:Oblivion or D:GamesOblivion

Game of the Year Edition

You do not need to apply any Official patches to the GOTY Edition because it is already 1.2.0416.

  1. Install all Official Add-ons
  2. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)
  3. Install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod)
  4. Install the Official Construction Set 1.2.404

Install this way if you do not have Shivering Isles

  1. Install Oblivion 1.0
  2. Install Official 1.1.511 Patch (only if you want the launcher to be fully functional)
  3. Install Official 1.2.416 Patch
  4. Install all Official Add-ons
  5. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)
  6. Install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod)
  7. Install the Official Construction Set 1.2.404

Install this way if you have Shivering Isles

  1. Install Oblivion 1.0
  2. Install Official 1.1.511 Patch (only if you want the launcher to be fully functional)
  3. Install Shivering Isles (which brings Oblivion to 1.2.201)
  4. Install Official 1.2.416 Patch
  5. Install all Official Add-ons
  6. Install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch (user-made mod)
  7. Install the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch (user-made mod)
  8. Install the Unofficial Official Mods Patch (user-made mod)
  9. Install the Official Construction Set 1.2.404

Load order

There are a bunch of forum topics on this matter and they vary in implementation. Here is just one of the handy load order listings I found.

Patch install failures

If you get an error installing a patch at 8%, check for the following which might cause the patch to fail:

  1. You must use the patch that is specific to your edition. Example: Direct2Drive editions must use Direct2Drive patches.
  2. If you use OBMM or other tool for Archive Invalidation, be sure to disable this feature, remove BSA edits and restore to default.
  3. If you use a 'cracked' Oblivion.exe to bypass the CD-Check routine, be sure to restore your original EXE file or you will need to uninstall Oblivion, clean out the Oblivion folder and install from scratch.
  4. If you installed Oblivion 1.0 and then got it patched to 1.2.0416 before installing Shivering Isles, it is possible that the installer will not work because it was expecting an older version of Oblivion. This would require uninstalling Oblivion and re-installing everything in the correct order.

Miscellaneous

Note about patch file size of 1.2.0416: The SI patch is smaller because the SI Install process updates Oblivion to 1.2.201, any patches after it would not need to be cumulative from Oblivion 1.0, just SI 1.2.201. If you have SI installed, the SI 1.2.416 patch contains only the fixes since 1.2.201.

The Unofficial Oblivion Patch
